Driver Mobile App
What is the Driver Mobile App?
The Driver Mobile App puts complete order visibility and task management in your drivers' hands. Available for iOS and Android, the app gives drivers everything they need to execute deliveries without constant back-and-forth with dispatch. From viewing trip details to capturing proof of delivery, the mobile app creates a direct connection between the road and your back office, syncing updates in real time so everyone stays on the same page.
When a dispatcher assigns an order, drivers receive a mobile notification with all the details they need: pickup and delivery addresses, commodities, accessorials, contact information, and appointment windows. The app automatically organizes tasks in the correct sequence through manifests, showing drivers exactly what needs to happen and when. Location sharing runs in the background, giving your team visibility without interrupting drivers with check calls. Whether capturing electronic signatures, scanning documents, or updating task status, everything drivers do in the app syncs instantly with TMS.ai, creating one continuous flow of information from pickup to final delivery.
How the Driver Mobile App works:
- Download and login: Drivers download the TMS.ai Truck Driver app from the App Store or Google Play and log in using credentials provided by their company (email or phone number). When logging in with a phone number, a verification code is sent to the phone for secure access.
- Multi-company access: Drivers working for multiple carriers access all companies from a single app, switching between them seamlessly while tracking loads for each company. The key is using the same login credentials (phone number or email address) across all companies.
- View assigned trips: Once logged in, drivers see their manifest, which is the list of trips displayed in completion order. Each task shows start and end times at the top, making it clear what needs to happen next.
- Automatic arrival tracking: The app records arrival times automatically. When the driver arrives at a location, the time field turns green, indicating it has been updated. Drivers can manually adjust arrival times using the Actions button if needed.
- Edit shipment details: Drivers tap any task to update information. Editable fields display a pen icon next to them. Admins control which fields drivers can edit through role-based permissions in Settings.
- Update accessorials and commodities: Drivers add or modify accessorials by tapping the pen icon next to the Accessorials field and selecting applicable charges. Commodity edits work the same way, with changes syncing in real time to the back office.
- Capture proof of delivery: At delivery completion, drivers collect POD using multiple methods: scan documents with the phone camera, take photos in-app, capture electronic signatures on screen, or upload photos from the phone gallery.
- Share location continuously: After enabling location sharing in the Active tab, the app shares GPS data with dispatch automatically. Drivers control location sharing and can turn it off anytime.
- Language support: The app supports English, French, and Spanish. Drivers change language preferences through the Profile menu in the app.
- Custom field access: If drivers need access to custom fields created specifically for your operation, admins update field permissions for the Driver role in Settings. Contact your Account Manager for assistance with customizing permission access.
What it means for you:
Drivers stop wasting time on phone calls and paperwork. They get clear instructions, update status with a few taps, and collect delivery proof without juggling paper forms. Your dispatch team sees exactly where drivers are and what they're doing, without making check calls every hour. When delivery is complete, POD documents arrive in TMS.ai instantly, ready for invoicing. No more waiting days for drivers to return with paperwork or scrambling to find delivery confirmations.
The app eliminates the friction between field operations and back-office systems. Updates happen in real time, reducing errors from manual data entry and miscommunication. Drivers appreciate having everything they need in one place, and you gain complete visibility across your fleet without adding overhead. Operations move faster, customers get proactive updates, and your team handles more volume without growing headcount. Check calls drop by 75%, freeing up dispatch to focus on planning and problem-solving instead of status updates.
