Carton Cloud EDI
Transportation companies with warehouses need order information to flow between TMS and WMS. Carton Cloud integration syncs warehouse operations with transportation management so receiving, putaway, picking, and shipping workflows stay aligned with order execution.
When freight arrives at your warehouse, order information flows from TMS.ai to Carton Cloud and triggers receiving workflows. When orders are ready for delivery, Carton Cloud confirms inventory availability and picking completion, updating TMS.ai with ready-to-ship status. The system maintains real-time inventory visibility so you know what's available before confirming pickup appointments.
Setting it up:
- Contact your TMS.ai account team to request Carton Cloud integration
- Provide your Carton Cloud account API credentials
- Work with TMS.ai support to map data fields between systems (order IDs, SKUs, quantities, locations)
- Configure which order statuses trigger warehouse updates (e.g., "Arrived at Warehouse" triggers receiving workflow)
- Test with sample orders to verify data flows correctly in both directions
- Activate for production warehouse operations
How it works in practice:
When an order status changes to "Arrived at Warehouse" in TMS.ai, Carton Cloud receives the order details and initiates the receiving workflow. Warehouse staff use Carton Cloud to receive inventory, assign storage locations, and complete putaway. When a delivery order is ready, warehouse staff pick and stage the freight in Carton Cloud. Once picking is complete, Carton Cloud updates TMS.ai with "Ready to Ship" status.
The integration maintains real-time inventory levels. When customers place orders in TMS.ai, the system checks Carton Cloud for inventory availability before confirming pickup appointments. If inventory isn't ready, TMS.ai automatically adjusts pickup appointments to prevent detention charges from trucks arriving before freight is staged.
Proof of delivery collected in TMS.ai syncs back to Carton Cloud to complete the warehouse-to-delivery workflow, closing out the order in both systems simultaneously.
